Community Involvement: Just Roll With It! 2022

The grassroots Raleigh event that put North Carolina on the map in the platform fighting game community.

Just Roll With It! is a community-ran event that started in Raleigh in 2016 by now former NC State students. It is a video game tournament series that has grown to draw competitors from all over the country and even Japan. I have been heavily involved with the event since 2017 after having redesigned their logo and I generally act as lead designer for the event to design passes, shirts, advertising material, etc...

Just Roll With It! 2022 was on July 16-17th; it is probably the event I've had the least involvement with yet, but I attended the event as a spectator anyway. I was happy to see my work for the event being enjoyed by competitors who weren't around to even know that I had rebranded the event, and to see how Just Roll With It! has cemented itself as one of the premiere events in the Southeast.

I learned a lot over the history of JRWI, and the scale of the events are only getting larger; I am ready to take what I have learned and apply it to the future events I've already been contacted for and bring more attention to the North Carolina fighting game community.
